How to Get Better Performance from Your Gaming PC

If you are an avid PC gamer, there is little more frustrating than experiencing slow performance when you are playing some of the latest and best PC games. If this is the case, the good news is that there are several things that you can do to optimise and improve your gaming PC performance. Some of the best tweaks that you can make include:

Upgrade Important Components

After a while, older components such as the RAM, storage and GPU may no longer be compatible with the latest games or may not run them as well. If you have a Lenovo Intel Gaming PC, then one of the best things that you can do to improve its performance is upgrade and install new hardware. One of the simplest things to do is add more RAM to your system depending on the slot in your motherboard and its capacity. A newer GPU can also be an ideal way to get better graphics and improve the overall gaming experience.

Keep the PC Clean

Making sure that it is clean is one of the most effective things that you can do to improve the performance of your gaming PC. Dirt and dust can build up in your system over time and reduce the airflow, which can result in more overheating of your machine. A build up of heat over time can then lead to major components such as the GPU and CPU slowing down, which ultimately impacts performance. You can clean your gaming PC regularly with a can of compressed air to blow off any build-up of dust. Before doing this, make sure that your PC is turned off and has cooled down.

Upgrade Drivers

All gaming PCs have the same architecture and hardware, despite their many differences. Because of this, you should keep your drivers updates to whichever operating system or hardware you are using. Most of the time these are a part of standard OS updates and if you are using a Windows gaming PC, setting automatic updates is easy. However, other drivers such as the driver for your GPU will need to be manually upgraded.

Activate Windows Game Mode

If you use Windows 10 on your gaming PC, then it’s worth taking advantage of the Game Mode feature that can be enabled each time you play. The feature is designed to optimise your computer’s system for gaming and includes a range of options that you can use such as streaming and screen recording. You can turn it on from the Gaming section in Settings.

Uninstall Unwanted Programs

Finally, having too many programs installed on your gaming PC can max out the storage unnecessarily, which can start to impact the performance. The more free space on your hard drive storage, the easier it will be for your PC to process programs and games. Regularly check your hard drive and uninstall any programs that you no longer need.

With the right care and strategies, you can improve your gaming PC’s performance and keep it working at its peak for longer.
